I grew up in Rochester, New York, home of Eastman Kodak and have been taking pictures ever since. Graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in chemical engineering and spent the majority of my professional career in managing engineering and construction of heavy industrial facilities

We lived 30 years in Southern California before moving to Bellingham, Washington in 2004. The landscape here re-ignited my passion for photography in contrast to the monotone sun of Southern California. My primary focus is to capture the feeling and ambience of this landscape but not on a grand scale. I prefer the more intimate perspective of being within the environment rather than taking pictures of the environment. I look for images that make the viewer want to explore the image and want to explore the landscape beyond what is in the image. I look for the right combination of light, weather, season and landscape to create an image which will captivate the viewer the same way that it resonated with me.

In addition to photography I also build custom furniture. My wife, Priscilla, is a scupltor, painter and mixed media artist. www.cillasart.com. We open our studios to the public on the first 2 weekends of October as part of the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour
